How To Harness The Power Of The Subconscious Mind “To shift your life in a desired direction, you must powerfully shift your subconscious.” Kevin Michel – The Power Of The Subconscious Mind
Most of us understand that we have a conscious mind and an unconscious mind. When we speak about the subconscious mind, we are referring to the processes of the mind that happen automatically. It is in the unconscious mind that we hold our deepest desires, fears and motivations. If you consider the mind to be like an iceberg, our conscious mind is the tip of the iceberg, and what lies beneath that is larger and broader than what we can fathom.
So is it possible that we can access our subconscious mind to develop ourselves? Can we access this wealth of knowledge and tap into the parts of ourselves that are hidden away? And if so, then how do we then harness that power and use it in our life?
1- Keep a dream journal.
Famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud considered our dreams to be a path to the subconscious mind, and by observing them believed we had a way to access the wealth of information that lies tucked beneath the levels of our conscious awareness.
By keeping a dream journal we give ourselves an opportunity to take note of what repetitive concepts or ideas are playing out in our subconscious mind. Simply keep a journal beside your bed and upon awakening each morning, record what you remember. Eventually you will start to see patterns in your words that could lead to great discoveries in your life.
2- Monitor your self-talk.
Becoming aware of what stories are running through your mind as you go about your day-to-day life presents a fantastic opportunity for you to get to know what beliefs are stitched into your subconscious mind. You can start this practice at any moment, simply by becoming mindful of your thoughts. For example, when you are doing mundane tasks like cleaning or cooking. Notice what judgements your brain makes of the world around you. This will help you to gain an understanding of your prejudices and your desires.
3- Remember that you are always in control.
The subconscious mind is programmed to serve us in every moment of our lives. Even though your subconscious has the ability to make you to feel emotionally and physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to do anything different than what it is used to, you can always regain control. All you need to remember is that you are in charge of your thoughts and can redirect your discomfort at any time. This is a much more empowering perspective than being at the mercy of your mind and your thoughts.
By practicing these 3 steps consistently in your life, you can learn to harness the power of your subconscious mind. Once you master your mind, you master your life.
