Make Every Day Count: How to Be Grateful For The Time You Still Have Left

We often lose sight of the truly important things in life. We are so busy wondering about our supposed dream car, our dream house, our dream life but ironically, the best dream one can have, is to come to grips with living ‘in the now’.

Time is the most valuable currency in existence. Every second we spend silently locked away in our rooms is time spent separated from the people that matter. Each second we spend staring at social media is time spent disconnected from the world around us. Every second we spend ruminating on the ‘should haves’ and ‘should have nots’, is time spent preventing beautiful new experiences from taking place.

If today was the last day of your life, what would you do?

Whom would you meet? What would you say? What would you want to see? Ask yourself these things. Once you start living like it is the last day of your life, you will come alive.

Get yourself out of that bed. Invest your time in yourself, your hobbies, your passions, the things that you enjoy doing. Don’t let your last day be spent doing something you despise, because you might as well be doing nothing at all. Live it to the fullest. Eat your favourite foods, read your favourite books, drink your favourite flavour of milk tea (or any other drink if you’re lactose intolerant).

You don’t have to be a celebrity to change the minds of others, you don’t have to be a politician to shift the outlook of the world. All you have to be is someone who is present. Spend your last day building bonds, reconciling broken relationships, being present in the lives of your loved ones, because it may be their last day as well. Time is precious. So are the people around us.
