<p>The expression I use, is I say,</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>We are all masterpieces and works in progress simultaneously..</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>So to be human is to be extraordinary.</p>
<p>I have a quote, which is says,</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Even on your worst day, you are a living miracle.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>If you think about the trillions of reactions that are happening just within the biochemistry of our physicality, it&#8217;s, it&#8217;s overwhelming that we can eat food with friends at a dinner table and our body will take care of the process of digestion went to secrete the bile from the bile duct, when to release more hydrochloric acid, to break down the food, the mechanisms that then have to actually occur as it goes through the small intestine and food is separated, you know, absorbed, and then it&#8217;s taken to the cellular level and there&#8217;s all of this metabolism that takes place at an even deeper level. So that the apple that you just ate at some point will become a liver cell.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>I mean, that is just mind blowing like magic, right? Yet we don&#8217;t think about it.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>So when you really understand the endless myriad of transactions that are happening in the human brain and the human body, that actually gives us the experience of being live, it&#8217;s humbling.</p>
<p>You kind of can&#8217;t help, but feel a sense of gratitude and grace by virtue of the fact that I have a human as a human, I have the capacity to see the people I love. I have the capacity to communicate the way that I feel about myself, life and others. The fact that I can smell the sense that I can hear the dulcet tones of a loved one or a child telling me what they feel. And I can taste the extraordinary abundance of these different flavors that we get to experience by virtue of mother nature.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Just those five senses that we take for granted every day from when you really get it, it becomes impossible to not revere life, your own, and others’</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>To recognize what an immaculate conception, every being is by virtue of the gift that it is so we get to experience life in its whole.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Being human IS the opportunity.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>And so when you recognize that by virtue of your, by virtue of being here, and again, I am not in any way diminishing or dismissing the hardship that many people go through. There are people literally starving. I can talk about the joys of tasting food and people are like, well, that&#8217;s great for you. I don&#8217;t have any. And so that is something that collectively we have to do a better job of right. There is such inequality.</p>
<p>That is, to me, something that really hit home many years ago was the,</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>just to be alive is itself a miracle.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>And from that moment forth, I stopped berating myself. I&#8217;m not perfect. And there&#8217;s so, so humility and patience that we can develop when we understand that and then afford others. And so certainly as it relates to kids, you know, their central nervous system is developing at every stage as it is still for me. If I try and take up a new language or I try and take up a new activity, I&#8217;m not going to be that good at it because it&#8217;s not something that I&#8217;ve assimilated into the way that my brain is currently programmed.</p>
<p>So if we could afford each other just a little bit more patience, a little bit more compassion, a little bit more empathy for the fact that it is difficult.</p>
<p>It is sometimes challenging to take on a new task and that&#8217;s okay. Then that again would make for a much more loving and accepting society.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>But within that, we never neglect the magic that it is to be a human being.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>And I know honestly, to be any form of life, you know, you just, yeah, just the intricate details of say a little bit spider, like, I mean, it&#8217;s just insane. Like that is magical. Now. I might not necessarily want that spider crawling across my face in the middle of the night, depending on what kind of spider it is, but I&#8217;m certainly going to Revere the fact that that is an expression of life and it at some level is just absolutely mystical.</p>

<p>So what are the differences? It&#8217;s not necessarily what you may think. Contrary to popular assumptions, introverts are not necessarily shy – though studies have shown they tend to be deep thinkers. Many introverts enjoy the social aspects of life, yet simply tend to feel overwhelmed in large groups or when being sociable for extended periods of time. In fact, <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.medicaldaily.com/brain-introvert-compared-extrovert-are-they-really-different-299064" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the brain activity of introverts and extroverts are slightly different in surprising ways</a></span>. </strong></p>
<p>As an introvert myself, I found the insights learned from associated studies of the brain to be both fascinating and illuminating.</p>
<h3><strong>THE SCIENCE BEHIND WHY INTROVERTS AND EXTROVERTS THINK DIFFERENTLY </strong></h3>
<p>A psychologist named Hans Eysenck conducted research in the 1960s and theorized that <strong>introverts have a higher level of what he called “arousal”</strong> and were more easily stimulated. His theory also pointed out that, generally speaking, introverts’ ability to process information per second is higher than extroverts.</p>
<p><strong>Extroverts tend to require a higher level of external stimulation to feel awake and alive.</strong> So they have a greater sense of risk-taking, seeking out challenges and social situations to provide that stimulation.</p>
<p>On the other hand, <strong>introverts seek out solitary time in order to avoid over-stimulation from external sources</strong>. They prefer to spend time thinking about, pondering, and analyzing experiences.</p>
<p>Researchers conducted a <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0926641005002880" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">study in 2005</a></span> which linked the difference in personalities and brain activity to dopamine neurotransmitters, where introverts and extroverts responded differently to this “pleasure and reward system” in the brain.</p>
<p>In 2012, <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="http://www.jneurosci.org/content/32/50/18087.full" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">another study</a></span> discovered that introverts most often have larger and thicker gray matter in their prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain linked to abstract thought processes and decision-making. Researchers learned that extroverts had less gray matter.</p>
<p>None of these studies indicate that introverts are smarter than extroverts. The difference is not linked to levels of intellect. <strong>Introverts merely respond differently to various situations and circumstances. </strong>They become more easily overwhelmed, and tend to spend more time thinking deeply about situations rather than getting out in the world and “doing.”</p>
<p>Introverts simply do not actively seek out the same level of external stimulation, preferring to be lost in their own thoughts.</p>

<h3><strong>TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF DEEP-THINKING HABITS</strong></h3>
<p>While the deep-thinking habits of introverts can sound like a good thing, there are pros and cons associated with that. Here are some points for introverts to consider in order to find the greatest balance between the “thinking” and “doing” aspects of life:</p>
<h4><strong>Mind Your Thoughts</strong></h4>
<p>While spending so much time in your head, as an introvert, you may tend to think things “to death.” This can take a couple of paths: (1) If thoughts lean along negative lines, you want to be mindful of what thoughts you’re allowing to dominate your mind. <strong>Re-frame negative thoughts in positive ways</strong>. (2) You may think yourself in circles when you need to make a decision.  If that&#8217;s the case, your thoughts may be getting in the way of moving forward in a productive way. <strong>Take a step back from analyzing every possible outcome and do a heart and gut check.</strong> In these cases, it can be best to let your intuition lead the way so that you actually move forward in a way that <strong>feels</strong> best (setting your conflicting thoughts aside).</p>

<p>Rather than spending time lost in thoughts while being sedentary, <strong>go for a walk or get in the habit of doing your best thinking while being active</strong>. Physical activity has a calming effect on the mind. It will help to manage any stress that comes along with circling thought patterns.</p>
<h4><strong>Meditation</strong></h4>
<p>Meditation can be beneficial and calming so that you&#8217;re not lost in your thoughts so often. This is especially true when your thoughts are sending you in circles or adding stress to your life. <strong>Meditation will serve the need for solitary and relaxation time, <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://iamfearlesssoul.com/5-famous-people-who-use-meditation-to-manifest-their-dreams/">while also centering you</a></span> in a beneficial way. </strong></p>
<p>Overall, tending to think deeply is an amazingly wonderful attribute. The tips above can help ensure all of that introverted deep-thinking is truly beneficial, rather than leading to any stress associated with “over-thinking.”</p>

<h3><strong>Discovering Mantras: What Is a Mantra?</strong></h3>
<p>In the simplest terms, it’s based on two root Sanskrit words: <em>manas</em> (mind) and<em> tra </em>(tool).  <strong>So the word “mantra” literally means “mind tool” or “a tool for the mind.”</strong>  You can use mantras – either spoken aloud, internally, or chanted repetitiously &#8211; to help focus your mind. This will enhance a deeper state of awareness, most traditionally during meditation and spiritual practices.</p>
<p>The reason “mantra” and “affirmation” tend to get confused is because you can use an affirmation AS your mantra during meditation. Or, you can simply use a single word or sound.</p>
<p><strong>Using mantras as a daily meditation practice, over time, can help your mind access deeper areas of your subconscious</strong>. When seeking to make changes in our lives, we most often experience blocks due to our subconscious thoughts and beliefs.</p>

<h3><strong>How to Use a Mantra</strong></h3>
<p>Using mantras can <strong>assist in entering a deep state of meditation</strong> or <strong>to energize an intention. </strong>Repetition is key. When you find your mind wandering, bring it back to your chosen word or phrase and appreciate the simplicity of repetition.</p>
<p>There are various schools of thought about how many times you need to repeat your mantra before you notice changes in your life. Most traditionally, you would repeat your mantra 108 times daily for it to be most effective. This is because, “<span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.yogiapproved.com/om/3-sanskrit-mantras-boost-meditation-practice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">in Vedic culture, the Mathematicians saw the number 108 as the wholeness of existence</a></span>.” In doing so, you are aligning yourself with the will of the universe and its creative life force.</p>
<p>Others believe that reciting multiple times for 40 days in a row invokes change. This idea is based around examples of Buddha and Jesus Christ. Based on this belief, it took 40 days of daily meditation for life changes to occur.  (In using this 40-day meditation ritual, if a day is missed, you must begin again at day 1. Otherwise, it would not be as effective, according to those who practice it.)</p>
<p>But reciting your mantra can really be used at any time throughout your day to reap benefits. The more you repeat it, the better aligned with it you will become. In this way, <strong>you can always use this as a tool for stilling your mind.</strong></p>
<h4><strong>Mantras for Meditation</strong></h4>
<p>During meditation, you would repeat your mantra silently or out loud for the time you are meditating.  Meditating daily in this way is most helpful. The goal of this practice is to rise above the everyday activity of your mind.</p>
<p>The type of mantra that works best in this capacity is one where you are <strong>not</strong> focused on any specific idea or outcome. So affirmation mantras, while helpful in other ways, wouldn’t tend to work as well in this setting as a tool for focusing the mind during meditation.</p>
<p>Because this type of mantra has no meaning to your conscious mind, you are able to simply focus on the word or phrase. The thought or sound vibrations assist you in accessing a heightened state of awareness.</p>
<h4><strong>Mantras to Energize an Intention</strong></h4>
<p>Alternatively, you could choose an affirmation as a mantra to repeat (silently or out loud) for specific periods of time throughout your day. Using a mantra in this way will help to energize your intention with heightened awareness.</p>
<p>During the course of the day, when you feel stressed or out of balance, you would repeat your chosen word or phrase to calm your mind and bring you back into focus.</p>

<p><strong>For meditation purposes, to assist in attaining a deeper meditative state, choose a single word or phrase. </strong> Traditionally, Sanskrit words are used for this purpose.  For example, using the word “Om” is said to be the sound of the universe or the primordial sacred sound. Another example is “Om Mani Padme Hum,” which is said to “<a href="https://www.yogapedia.com/2/8623/meditation/mantra/the-meaning-of-om-mani-padme-hum" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="color: #3366ff;">unlock the loving and unconditional qualities of compassion</span></a>.”</p>
<p><strong>To use a mantra for energizing an intention, focus on what you want to achieve.</strong> Then choose a word or phrase that aligns with your intention. Keep in mind that it should always represent your greatest good without attachment to a specific outcome. Some examples of affirmation mantras are: “Love surrounds me;” “I attract abundance in my life;” or “I am at peace with myself and the universe.”</p>

<p>With a few tweaks in our choices and awareness of these habits, we can alter the effects in a life-enriching way.. leading to increased happiness and overall quality of life.</p>
<h2><strong>Drop These Surprisingly Common but Insidious Habits to Enrich Your Life</strong></h2>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #00aeef;">1</span>. Being jealous</strong></h3>
<p>Jealousy harbors negative energy (within ourselves and emanating to others), and yet can have a positive spin when we look at the root of it and alter our interpretation.  When we feel jealous, we are most often wishing to be like someone else, coveting what they have, whether traits or material things.</p>
<p>That “jealous” feeling (or acting) is simply a habit we develop.</p>
<p>Rather than interpreting that feeling as jealousy, with a change in approach, we can <strong>choose to honor what the other person has or does</strong>.   Allow them to be a model of what we want and someone we can learn from rather than viewing them as an opponent.</p>

<p>According to an article in <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/one-true-thing/201506/5-benefits-gossip-even-negative-gossip">Psychology Today</a></span>, “65% to 80% of our daily conversations are about other people…” so gossip itself is part of our everyday lives.  But when misused with negative intent, it becomes harmful and can lead to hurt feelings, depression, and antagonistic behavior.</p>

<p>Just being mindful of your particular gossiping habits can ensure they are enriching experiences rather than ones that leads to negative outcomes.</p>

<p>We make daily choices about what news we choose to watch or read and what television shows to watch.  This can range from sitcoms to reality shows (filled with commercials) and everything in between.</p>

<p>Simply being aware of how your media choices are affecting and influencing you is a step in the right direction to more enriching experiences.  We can and should <strong>choose to develop media habits that enhance our lives</strong> rather than detract from them.</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #00aeef;">4</span>. Choosing convenient (highly-processed) foods over quality choices</strong></h3>
<p>Today’s culture and society is one of instant gratification and convenience.  Grocery stores are filled with far more choices in boxed foods and ready-made meal and snack choices than they are with wholesome choices.</p>
<p>We see fast food chains everywhere (and commercials to go with them).</p>

<p>Marketers spend HUGE amounts of money on research to determine strategic placement of products in grocery stores.  This is researched to the point of learning how a typical customer walks through the store and drawing customers to what they want them to buy based on this.</p>
<p>For example, you may not be aware that marketers can now use “<span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="https://www.tobiipro.com/fields-of-use/marketing-consumer-research/customer-cases/et-research/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">eye tracking</a></span>” devices to research and determine, with accuracy, what an average customer experiences.  It tracks how a consumer reacts visually to product placement to influence buying choices.</p>
<p>From a consumer perspective, especially as marketing technology evolves, we need to be even more aware in making planned and conscious choices.  This can lessen the detrimental effects of influential marketing that aims to steer our buying choices in the wrong direction.</p>
<p>Awareness is the key here to make the best choices to enrich your life.</p>
<p>Know what you intend to buy before you walk into a store.  And know that your “impulses” to make additional or alternative buying choices are often being strategically influenced by high-paying marketers.</p>
<p><strong>Choose food purchases that are healthy and make you feel at your best.</strong>  Not ones that are being sold in a colorfully packaged box in the right section of the store and at the right height to draw your attention.</p>
<h3><strong><span style="color: #00aeef;">5</span>. Staying in Your Comfort Zone</strong></h3>
<p>Staying in your comfort zone is great, right?  (It’s nice and comfy there.)</p>

<li>Is this something that tends to make me (and/or others) feel better or worse?</li>
<li>Does it impact me (and/or others) in a positive or negative way?</li>
<li>Is it something I think about, or something I just DO…and why?</li>
<li>Is it a thoughtful choice or a habit based on the influence of others? (And if influenced, is it a positive influence or a potentially negative one?)</li>
</ul>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Once you are committed to change it’s time to make a plan. What do you need to do to find your motivation again? Do you need to quit your job or leave your relationship? Perhaps you need to adjust your diet. Are you eating enough of the right foods? Try to decrease stimulants like caffeine and sugar. Learn to meditate, start to exercise. All of these simple changes will put you back in the driver&#8217;s seat of your life and make a great difference in your feeling of apathy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Although it’s hard to hear, the reality is no one is coming to save you from yourself. If you want to make a change and step back into your greatness you have to do decide and commit to it every day. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You know, the one who always manages to find a negative in every positive. The one who seems to totally miss the upside and go straight for what could have been better or what was missing in any situation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Being around people who complain all the time is exhausting. It really drains your energy to constantly talk about what’s WRONG in life instead of focusing on what’s good or what’s going well.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The funny thing is, chances are at one point or another you have been that complaining person.</span></p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">I know I have. </span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It doesn’t make you bad. It doesn&#8217;t mean you are unlovable or unacceptable. Being ashamed of yourself isn’t the answer here.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The point is simply, to gently tell you that you may have accidentally gotten stuck on focusing on the wrong stuff. </span></p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">WHOOPS. </span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But, there’s good news! You can totally change it. And it’s important that you do.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When we complain or focus on the negative in life, we actually increase feelings of sadness and melancholy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That’s not something we really want, is it?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We do however want to be honest about how we feel and allow ourselves to be truthful in the moments when we need to let out some frustration or anger. </span></p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">That is healthy.</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What isn’t healthy is chronic, habitual, unconscious complaining.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Complaining that actually makes you feel worse, not better, when you do it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Complaining that affects the people around you because they must find conjure positive resistance to your negative energy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The truth is you aren’t negative, you have just got some negative patterns of thinking.</span></p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">So how do we change that?</span></h3>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="color: #00aeef;">1</span>. Understand your reasons for complaining</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Looking at the reasons why we do what we do, can be the most uncomfortable thing in the world.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s also how we grow.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why do you complain? Is it because your family does it? Growing up in a household where people constantly point out the negative is going to result in you doing it too. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Do you complain to get attention? Perhaps when you were growing up you didn’t feel as important as your siblings so you learned to complain in order to get attention.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whatever your reasons are, <em>you need to become aware of them</em>.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You don’t need a fancy journal or an expensive app to do it either. Simply note down 3 things a day you are grateful for, no matter how simple, and you will start to retrain your brain to focus on what’s good in your life.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The sad part about this is that in some cases, technology is being overused in our lives and it is distracting us from being present with life, and the people in it. (The real ones not the ones on the internet).</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Any change in life begins with a decision. Take a moment to really consider why you want to spend less time on technology. Is it to spend more time with family? <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When you really don’t want to be bothered, switch your phone to do not disturb mode. This will allow you the time to focus on what is in front of you, whether that’s spending time with loved ones or getting some work done.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another option is to move your phone or devices out of sight and out of reach when you are with people, or even when you are on your own. Try having a place in your home that you keep your phone so you have to get up to reach it. Make a rule to not have devices during certain times, for example, at dinner, to help encourage real-life connection.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Technology is so beneficial if used in measured and conscious amounts.
